“THE RED THREAD – COLORFUL WORLDS IN ABUNDANCE (2015)”
“The Red Thread” presents a unique youth project from 2015. The project focused on the performing arts and music performance and was aimed at young people aged 15 to 18. The implementation took place in Landsberg am Lech. The project consisted of various exciting stages. First, the young people took part in a stilt workshop to learn the art of walking on stilts. This was followed by a costume workshop in which the participants developed their own costumes. In the staging workshop, they were introduced to the art of staging and learned how to bring their costumes to life in performance pieces. Finally, an exhibition workshop took place in which the resulting works were presented.
The project was continued in the following years. In 2017-2018, a continuation took place under the title “Der Rote Faden – Trau Dich!”, followed by another continuation in 2019 called “Wanderer: Heute hier, morgen dort”. In these sequels, the costumes that had already been developed were used to create new productions and stories. Since then, the costumes have been used by the Theater auf Stelzen “dieStelzer” for international performances.
The costumes from the project are still in use today, in 2023, and form the basis for the development of walking acts and parades. The costumes and props are continually being developed and added to in order to offer new creative possibilities. In 2023, they will be equipped with a light installation and have their premiere in Venice.
The content and themes of the project are presented in the documentary video. In 2015, the young people dealt intensively with questions of fashion, self-expression and self-image. They developed their own costumes, which were then presented in an impressive parade, fashion show, performance and exhibition installation during the “Long Art Night” on the main square in Landsberg. The young people were also familiarized and trained in the genre of “theater on stilts” in this project.
With this special form of presentation, they transformed the town center of Landsberg into a living stage. Over the course of several months, they developed their own collection made from inexpensive materials. The result was a breathtaking presentation that amazed everyone with its creative and impressive character.

CONTINUATION
The project was continued in 2017-2018 (Der Rote Faden – Trau Dich!) and 2019 (Wanderer: Heute hier, morgen dort). The costumes continued to be used to develop productions and stories.
The costumes have been in use since 2022 and serve as the basis for youth projects, for the development of walking acts and parades. Costumes and props are constantly being developed and added to.
CONTENT AND TOPICS
In the 2015 project, young people explored questions of fashion and their own expression and self-image and developed their own costumes. The presentation of these fashions and costumes was staged as a parade, fashion show, performance and exhibition installation on the main square in Landsberg during the “Long Art Night”.
For this presentation as a fashion show and performance, the young people were familiarized with and trained in the genre of “theater on stilts”.
With this form of presentation, the young people transformed the city center into a stage. Over the course of several months, they developed their own collection, which was made from “1-euro items”. The result: WOW!
