CONTENT AND TOPICS
With this project, we want to increase the visibility of voluntary historical work. To this end, we are setting up a container with an interactive multimedia installation for a period of two weeks. In this way, we want to attract young people, adults and senior citizens to participate in our projects and promote civic engagement in remembrance work.
Through our collaboration with the DZG, we offer pupils various opportunities to help shape the program. We focus on historical events in recent history and develop artistic and creative elements as part of historical and political education.
OBJECTIVES
The project aims to present and promote new formats of remembrance culture. One aim is to involve actors in the culture of remembrance, especially young people and senior citizens, in a direct and participatory way and thus strengthen participation in collective remembrance.
We are developing an exhibition installation that offers pupils the opportunity to work artistically and engage with the local history of National Socialism. Guided tours led by schoolchildren will help to promote skills in the teaching of history.
The exhibition in the public space is intended to help raise awareness of the importance of local contemporary history. With the history installation, we want to show that a culture of remembrance can be more than just a repetition of historical events and that participation in a culture of remembrance is possible.
IMPLEMENTATION
- Between July and September 2022, we are working with young people and historians, media designers and volunteers to develop an exhibition with audio-visual materials. We are also designing a visualization and installation of the historical facts.
- Surveys on the subject area are intended to reflect and document the current state of knowledge. In this way, the needs – opportunities and deficits – of the culture of remembrance should lead to discussion and further reflection.
- We train young people and volunteers as exhibition guides: this means that guided tours are offered as target group-specific multiplication.
- We offer a meeting space in an exhibition container in the public parking lot (Infaternieplatz in Landsberg am Lech) between the school, cinema and sports field, which is accessible to everyone, free of charge and with low thresholds.
- Press events, presentations and a supporting program are intended to involve and activate the public in the dialogue.
