PROJECT STATUS 2023

At a time when the world came to a standstill due to the coronavirus pandemic and artists were forced to suspend their activities, it was particularly difficult for street artists to find a place where they could create and present their art. This problem was particularly noticeable in Italy and Spain. At the same time, there were social communities in these countries, which in turn provided spaces and opportunities for encounters and socio-cultural activities.

To overcome these challenges and take advantage of opportunities, we have formed a European network of cooperation to use art and culture as a tool for intervention in socially disadvantaged communities together with artists.

We were able to develop programs to transform social communities into “active welcome spaces” where artists come together in an interactive and appreciative environment. This enabled us to create learning spaces to develop the knowledge and understanding needed to integrate creative hubs in such communities. This enabled cultural events to be organized, produced and disseminated.

OBJECTIVES

Our overall goal is to create a network that incentivizes integration and creative education to make it accessible to social projects and artists:

    1. Experimenting with new models of ACTIVE WELCOME CULTURE in the communities, as well as permanent art exhibitions inside and outside the host communities.
    2. Creation of a digital web platform that brings together the aforementioned social projects. This can be used to offer training and services for artists.
    3. To equip users with the necessary digital skills for social media to organize artistic events and transform social projects into places of active reception, thus promoting art and themselves.
    4. Training adult migrants and low-skilled project users in the technical production of art exhibitions to bring them closer to the art world and provide them with better employment opportunities.
    5. Making the situation of migrants visible through art and educating citizens in order to change their view of migrants.
    6. To offer adults with a migration background a different perspective on the host communities in order to drive their communitization and team building.
    7. Promotion of cooperation between artists as a form of informal education in social projects.
    8. The vision is to establish community projects with artists as a kind of socio-cultural activity.

TARGET GROUP

The target group for this training measure is divided into two groups with different content:

Course 1 is aimed at 12 professionals from the host communities, such as: Social educators, psychologists, social workers, social integrators, occupational therapists, people working in social and health care and health care.

These professionals have special qualifications and extensive knowledge of the problems of marginalized groups. They are familiar with the situation of vulnerability, risk or social exclusion affecting these marginalized groups.

Course 2 is aimed at 24 migrants living in reception centers or communities. This group is usually very heterogeneous, but in general they have low academic qualifications, problems dealing with emotions, behavioral problems, apathy and low self-esteem.
