FOUNDATION
The association “dieKunstBauStelle” is a versatile and dynamic non-profit organization (NGO). It was launched in Landsberg am Lech in January 2014. Our founder, Wolfgang Hauck, brought together artists, cultural workers, journalists, editors, sociologists and volunteers to realize this initiative.
With Landsberg am Lech as our core region, our activities and influences extend both regionally in Bavaria and internationally. Thanks to our local and regional cooperation partners, we have built up a broad and far-reaching network.
DEVELOPMENT
Our association has its origins in an art project of the same name by Wolfgang Hauck: “dieKunstBauStelle”. This socio-cultural project was carried out in Landsberg am Lech in 2012. When the city center of Landsberg am Lech became a major construction site in 2013, we took the opportunity to artistically revitalize the cityscape. Twenty young people came together to create a public exhibition under professional guidance, transforming the building site into a living work of art. Inspired by this project, the idea was born to found a supporting association for the development and implementation of similar projects.
REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Many of our projects begin in Landsberg, are tested there and then implemented as model projects throughout Bavaria. While the focus of our activities lies in the administrative districts of Upper Bavaria and Swabia, we have also initiated cooperation projects in Lower Bavaria and Middle Franconia. We are currently preparing projects that are to be extended to the whole of Bavaria after their trial phase.
Since 2018, we have had a branch office in Berlin and a coordination office in Istanbul to manage and organize our international projects. We have also been active in the Hochfeld district and Augsburg Railway Park since 2022. As an association, KunstBauStelle keeps its finger on the pulse by opening up new opportunities for cultural expression and social connection.
