CHANGES WITH A NEW LOCATION

The cultural association dieKunstBauStelle started its activities in Landsberg, with 28,000 inhabitants in 2014. There 35 socio-cultural projects were developed and realized. In the middle of 2022, the association had to give up its premises because of the sale of the house. The association has therefore 2022 developed a decentralized cultural work with a mobile “culture station” in expanded construction containers in villages of the district.

OPTIMIZATION AND PROFESSIONALIZATION

The association dieKunstBauStelle is developing a new location in the nearby city of Augsburg (300,000 inhabitants) and has participated in two socio-cultural projects.

These projects focused on the Augsburg-Hochfeld district (PLANUNGSRAUM IX, 13th district of Augsburg) with 10,000 inhabitants.

The district is dominated by an industrial wasteland of the former railroad yard, which will be converted into residential and commercial space in the next few years. However, part of the site, 2.4 hectares, belongs to the non-profit “Bahnpark Augsburg,” which aims to transform itself into a learning site for European cultural history with locomotives as “steel” contemporary witnesses.

Due to its central location and the buildings, the Augsburg Railway Park has the best prerequisites to develop into a new district and cultural center. The association dieKunstBauStelle can participate in this process and act as an impulse generator.

For this purpose, four mobile cultural stations (office containers as editorial, meeting, and exhibition space) are available to be present and active on-site from January 2023, even before the start of the construction measures and the conversion process.

In order to realize this project, a strategic restructuring and professionalization process is to be carried out. In addition to volunteers, basic funding for salaried staff is to be established, the team is to be qualified for the expanded tasks, and processes (organization, press, projects) are to be optimized.

This includes a moderation process for strategic development and external support for the change process in order to contour and focus its own profile and potential for socially relevant, participatory cultural work.

GOALS

Through the change process, the association dieKunstBauStelle should optimize and thereby stabilize its organization in order to anchor itself as a competent partner for the district.

The previous commitments in the rural area can thus be coordinated and combined. The activities and social significance of the association will thus become more visible and effective, which will attract new participants to the association and expand cooperation for the development of the area with residents, artists and actors. With these strategic and structural changes, the association can become a responsible supporter and actor of cultural life in the urban area.

  • It is to build the formation of long-term partnerships with local governments.
  • It is to be formed a network with the interest and action groups, artists, and artists.
  • There shall be optimization and professionalization of communication, press relations, and social media and an increase in public perception.

NETWORK

Networking and network building will be a central component of the development and anchoring of the association dieKunstBauStelle in the district and the new offers. At this new location, the association can play an important role as coordinator, mediator, and actor in order to bundle the cooperation and participation of different actors. The association has already been able to establish initial contacts, which have met with great interest but must be strategically and systematically expanded.
