TITLE

TREE STORIES | HISTORY TREES

FOCUS: Media workshop with pupils
PLACE: Landsberg am Lech
LANGUAGE: German
ACTIVITY: Cultural Youth Education
CONCEPT AND IDEE: Wolfgang Hauck

DESCRIPTION

“BAUMGESCHICHTEN | GESCHICHTSBÄUME” is a rediscovery of the tree garden along the city wall and its preparation as a virtual space for experience and exploration.

The project uses digital media as part of an educational project. With photos, images and texts, the results of a school project from 1998 are to be recorded and continued.

The goals are:

  • Exchange of experience
  • Learning and using digital formats
  • Research, interpretation and creative design
  • Collaborate on digital presentations

The project is the continuation of socio-cultural and artistic projects, such as the “Landsberg Stories” or “Mobility” (2019) project. Here, the participating young people are instructed to conduct interdisciplinary and multimedia learning research. They acquire specialist knowledge, investigate and learn to reflect on their present and their environment.

The aim of the digital exchange project is to update old work results and make them accessible through new means of communication.

TOPIC

With this project, the young people will set out to continue a work that the secondary school with Christian Karlstetter started back in 1998 – when students in the seventh grade of Landsberg secondary school mapped the trees on the eastern city wall. This means recording the inventory, researching history and stories, and using new media to tell and make them accessible.

To do this, the young people can be creative and give free rein to their imagination. For example, researching legends and sagas around the trees. Each tree should tell its own story – which will be recorded in audio and video. They can also be curious to hear what the sound of a tree bark sounds like. Sound collages will be recorded for this purpose. A nature installation, which will be enriched and equipped with comments, videos and other ideas,

DURATION

The project will take place as workshop number 12 from 1.8. to 30.9.2020 as part of our “Türkenmariandl” programme.
The results will be presented in September 2020.
