THE PROJECT #Europe2024 – Workshop – Bahnpark – Augsburg
The official title of the project in the EU program is:
“Time for Europe / Shaping Europe / Immersive journey with a locomotive theater performance / Understanding what makes Europe tick and how to stand up for Europe“
The short title is “Workshop Europe”. It is an engaging and participatory project dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of the European Parliament in order to strengthen democracy and promote voter mobilization for the 2024 European elections. We are looking for committed and creative people who would like to take part in this project.
The aim of the “Werkstatt Europa” project is to get Augsburg’s urban society interested in the topic of Europe and the European elections through an interactive experience with multimedia projections, theatrical elements and hands-on activities in the Augsburg Railway Park, a former company site and now a railroad museum.
As part of the project, an immersive exhibition will be installed in the southern locomotive hall of the Augsburg Railway Park for 40 days and set up on site so that an interactive performance can be offered in the evening on 20 days. The installation combines performance, film, large-scale projection, theater, live video installations, improvisational theater, participatory theater and games to convey the history of Europe and raise awareness of the importance of democracy in Europe.
Europe Weeks in Augsburg
The events are part of the Europe Weeks in Augsburg and are supported by the Kulturfonds Bayern and the European Union. They are organized in cooperation with Bahnpark Augsburg gGmbH, the theater “die Stelzer” and the cultural association dieKunstBauStelle e.V..
Management
The overall management is in the hands of the initiator Wolfgang Hauck. He is a board member of the association dieKunstBauStelle and also runs the Theater die Stelzer.
Participation and involvement
The project is intended to offer other stakeholders and institutions the opportunity to actively participate, shape and contribute in various scales and formats.

OPEN WORKSHOP
We are building Europe!
In this workshop, various artists accompany the participants as they build landscapes, objects, costumes and stage sets out of cardboard. The resulting works can be minimalistically small or meters high and serve as a stage set for the theatrical performance and multimedia installation in the evening.
Be it a European landscape or a futuristic European machine. The workshop offers the opportunity for everyone to try things out and join in, guaranteed! We work with multimedia, AI, large format printers, cutters, glue guns and projectors. Every day and every week, a different topic is the focus of our work together. We are creating a laboratory for Europe on 400 m2! Get ready for a journey through Europe and its diversity. Curious about what happens in the hall of the Railway Park? Then take a look!

We want to talk about Europe and European dimensions. Focused, concentrated, controversial, constructive and, above all, together. To this end, we are offering a platform in the Bahnpark to invite participants to present their ideas and positions and to answer questions. On our website we present the information and people for the respective evenings.

THEATER -PERFORMANCE-INSTALLATION
We are building Europe!
Will the assembly hall in the Bahnpark be transformed into a theater, a cinema, a multimedia room or a spaceship for time travel in Europe on these evenings? Unfortunately, we don’t know! Artists from the fields of music, theater, dance, film and multimedia create something new and different every evening. Whether the large steam locomotive motif becomes the stage for a furious journey or what is created with the stage sets from the workshop. That will only become clear in the evening. An entertaining evening.
